Volunteer
Volunteers are the life blood of food banks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind food banks. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. If you have a few hours a week available to volunteer as part of our amazing team, and are aged 18+, we’d love to hear from you. Volunteers at Brent foodbank can expect:
- Induction & training
- The opportunity to see how our charity runs day to day
- The chance to be involved in a community effort to eradicate food poverty alongside other passionate volunteers and staff members
All volunteer positions are subject to two personal references and a trial period.

Shifts are available on Wednesdays from 10:45-4:00
Neasden
Neasden Foodbank Centre (Vestry Hall, Neasden Lane, NW10 2TS)
Volunteers spend the morning preparing for the parcel collection session (sorting food, preparing food parcels, setting up for the session) and then the foodbank is open open for people to collect their food parcel and be signposted to from 12.30pm to 3pm with a tidy up after 3pm.

Willesden
Willesden Warehouse (100 High Road, Willesden, NW10 2PP)
Willesden warehouse volunteers work with the Warehouse operations lead and a team of 2-5 fellow volunteers. The role involves sorting and date checking incoming stock donations, packing food parcels, moving crates out of the building for delivery and keeping the warehouse tidy. It is a physical role and an induction on health and safety will be given as well as training on safe lifting practices.
Shifts are available on Mondays (10:00-1:00), Wednesdays (11:00-3:00) and Fridays (11:00-3:00).
Van Driver (Brent)
Driving volunteers work in pairs loading crates of food onto the van and transporting food from collection points to the warehouse for sorting, and finally onto the local food bank. There may be variation in shift demand and this will be communicated by the operations lead. It is a physical role and an induction on health and safety will be given as well as training on safe lifting practices. We will require a copy of your driver’s licence and for you to undertake an online check through View or share your driving licence information – GOV.UK
The following shifts are available: Monday (1:00-4:00), Tuesday (1:00-4:00), Thursday (10:00-1:00) and (1:00-4:00), Friday (1:00-4:00)
We bring in new volunteers regularly, but there is sometimes a waiting period between intakes while we introduce a new group of volunteers. In case an opportunity you are interested in is full, please check back again in a few weeks to see if it has re-opened. There may also be a few weeks wait between your application and being invited in for a trial shift, but we will respond as soon as we start bringing in the next group of volunteers. Thank you so much and we look forward to hearing from you!
