Brent Foodbank Tuesday food bank session at St Mary’s church has been paused temporarily.
Following the ceiling in our Willesden warehouse falling in a few weeks ago, we now have to move all our food out and relocate it temporarily, so that repairs can be carried out. This has put additional pressure on our resources which were already stretched to the full. Unfortunately the situation has become unsustainable and we have had to make difficult decisions. Currently most of our resources are spent running two sessions in St Mary’s church and continuing to run these sessions as they stand, with the space we have is no longer possible.
As a result, from the week commencing the 6th Feb, we will be running two food bank sessions a week, one at our centre in Kingsbury on a Wednesday and another at Neasden from Vestry Hall on a Thursday. The Tuesday food bank session at St Mary’s church will be paused temporarily. This is likely to remain the case until early May 23.
Our number one priority is to support people with emergency food and ensure they get the help they need when facing financial hardship. Which is why we will continue with two sessions a week. Alongside this we are looking for organisations who can hold emergency food boxes for when we are not open and working with our partners at Citizens Advice and Brent reach to ensure their service continues.
Brent Foodbank would like to thank everyone for their support at this difficult time for us, whether you are someone who needs food, one of our volunteers, someone who donates food or money and our referrers. We have had some truly lovely responses to our news and this makes a difficult situation much easier.
