Foodbank vouchers

The most important step is to get a foodbank voucher.

In order to provide the most appropriate help we work with local agencies. They will be able to provide you with support to help address the crisis and if needed, they’ll issue you with a food bank referral voucher (an e-voucher referral code) so you can get an emergency food parcel from your local foodbank. Agencies we work with include Citizens Advice, Brent Hubs, welfare assistance, housing support officers, family wellbeing centres, health visitors, social prescribers, social services, probation officers, as well as local charities and support organisations.

If you cannot afford to buy food you can visit your normal support service to request a food bank voucher. They will discuss your circumstances with you, and if appropriate will issue you an electronic voucher code to bring to the foodbank to exchange for an emergency food parcel.

If you have not been referred to Brent Foodbank before, you can visit Brent Hubs who are based at libraries across Brent. Their advisors can provide support with benefits, housing, debt etc, as well as issue you a food bank voucher code if appropriate.

For details of their drop-in service, just visit Brent Hubs

You can also contact the national Help Through Hardship line: 0808 208 2138 (free phone number 9am – 5pm)

They can help you address your crisis and provide support to maximise your income, help you navigate the benefits system, and identify any additional grants you could be entitled to.  If needed, they’ll issue you with a referral code so you can get an emergency food parcel from your local foodbank.

Please ask the adviser if you need a translator, this will be provided via Language Line and you may need to hold for a while whilst they set this up.

If you can’t hear or speak on the phone you can use Relay UK. For details of how to use Relay UK, please visit Relay UK

The Brent Family Wellbeing Centres provide a range of community-led services that can support you from the moment you know you’re expecting, through pregnancy and birth, until your child is 18 years old (or up to 25 for children and young people with special educational needs). The Centres offer a wide range of free health, education and welfare services to families and aim to give everyone in Brent the best possible start in life. They will also be able to issue you a food bank voucher code if appropriate.

For details of their service and to register, just visit Family Wellbeing Centres | Brent Council

If you need further referrals, contact your referrer for another code/voucher.

The code you will be given is for one visit only, so if you need to come back please get in touch with your referrer again.

If you are a support service or charity and would like to become a registered referral agency for our foodbank, please contact us.
